The model is a near-to-scale replica, featuring actual general dimensions and fully textured design. It comprises animated components such as propellers, ailerons, flaps, elevators, landing gear, and landing gear doors. Available in various formats, this model represents the popular Convair CV-580 transport aircraft. Used by commercial airlines for medium hauls with medium loads during the 1960s and 1970s, it continued its service with major and regional carriers until the late '70s and early '80s when jets like DC-9 and 737 replaced them. Designed as a successor to the CV-340 and Martin 404, this aircraft featured Allison Turboprop engines for enhanced power, speed, and efficiency. It also served smaller carriers for freight and charter operations well into the 2000s; however, most are now out of service, with a few still in operation worldwide.
