Available in multiple formats, this popular mid-haul medium load transport aircraft was commonly used by major airlines in the '50s and '60s before being replaced by jets like DC-9 and 737s in the mid-'70s. Initially built for United Airlines and other operators including KLM, it was an extended version of the CV-240 with increased seating capacity and wingspan for better high altitude performance. Pressurized, it could accommodate up to 60 passengers comfortably. After its airline days, it served as a charter aircraft and cargo plane.
