The model is available in various formats. In the 1950s and 60s, the Convair 340 was a popular medium haul, medium load commercial aircraft. It remained active with major airlines until the mid-70s when it was replaced by jets like DC-9 and 737s. Initially built for United Airlines and others including KLM, this model was an extended CV-240 with added seats and longer wingspan. The Convair 340 was pressurized and could accommodate up to 60 passengers comfortably. It later served as a charter and cargo aircraft.
