This accurately scaled model features full texturing, animatable components like propellers, ailerons, flaps, elevators, landing gear, and landing gear doors. Available in various formats, the Convair 340 was a popular mid-20th century medium haul, medium load commercial aircraft. It remained active with major carriers until the mid-70s when it was largely replaced by jets such as DC-9 and 737 models. Initially built for United Airlines and others, including KLM, this extended version of the CV-240 held four extra seats and had a larger wingspan for improved high altitude performance. The Convair 340 was pressurized, accommodating up to 60 passengers in relative comfort before being repurposed as charter or cargo planes.
