The Convair 340 was a popular medium haul, medium load transport aircraft for commercial airlines from the 50s to 60s. Active with major carriers until mid-70s when replaced by jets like DC-9 and 737s, it was initially built for United Airlines and KLM as an extended CV-240 version with additional seats and longer wingspan for better high altitude performance. Pressurized, it could carry up to 60 passengers comfortably. Later used as a charter and cargo aircraft.
