The scale model features accurate dimensions, complete texturing, and animatable components such as propellers, ailerons, flaps, elevators, landing gear, and doors. The Convair 340, popular among medium haul commercial airlines in the '50s and '60s, remained active until the mid-'70s when replaced by jets like DC-9s and 737s. Initially built for United Airlines and other operators including KLM, it was an extended CV-240 with extra seats and a longer wingspan for improved high altitude performance. Pressurized, the Convair 340 could accommodate up to 60 passengers comfortably. Later, it served as a charter and cargo aircraft.
