This model is available in various formats. The Convair 340 was a prominent medium haul, medium load transport plane for commercial airlines during the 1950s and 60s. It remained operational with major carriers until the mid-70s when it was replaced by jets like DC-9 and 737s. Initially built for United Airlines and other operators including KLM, the Convair 340 was an extended CV-240 version with extra seating capacity and a longer wingspan for better high altitude performance. Pressurized, it could accommodate up to 60 passengers comfortably. Post its airline service, it was employed as a charter plane and cargo carrier.
