The B-36D to final production models featured four jet engines, while earlier B-36A and B-36B versions had only propellers. Detailed paint schemes reflect actual squadron designs, and numerous animateable features include turbines, flaps, ailerons, rudder, elevators, retractable landing gear, and landing gear doors; the propellers are animated as well. The B-36 "Peacemaker" was a massive piston engine aircraft operated exclusively by the USAF from 1949 to 1959, being the largest mass-produced plane of its kind with the longest wingspan among combat aircraft. Designed for long-range missions to Soviet targets, these noisy bombers often disrupted celebrations and caused property damage when flying low. Operated by a crew of 13, they were part of the Strategic Air Command and gained popularity from their appearance in "Strategic Air Command" starring Jimmy Stewart. Additionally, a project for a jet-powered, swept wing variant, YB-60/B-36G, was developed.
