Control4 6 button holder
thingiverse
This creation was crafted with Tinkercad. Edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/4gsykf7xnFC. Control4's initial 6-button keypad featured a 3x2 layout. The removable keys sit inside a slim plastic grid that in turn presses into the metal face of the device. A Lutron-style faceplate is placed on top. The grid insert, constantly in contact with the warm aluminum heatsink of the device, can become brittle after a decade or so. This design serves as my replacement for it. I produced it using PLA and supports under the lengthy sides. I printed it with the front facing downwards on the build plate for two reasons. Firstly, there is a step inside each of the 6 key holes, making the front face slightly narrower than the back. Secondly, the space behind the grid is open, and if printed with the front face upwards, I would have needed supports under the very thin grid. I wasn't confident that the supports would release without breaking the grid.
