This mount is designed to achieve two main objectives: * Compatibility with 40x40x20 mm fans * Sturdiness and stability * Effective blocking of backdraft beside the fan, minimizing airflow loss Why use a 40x40x20 mm fan when a smaller 10mm stock fan was originally used? The answer lies in performance. A deeper fan reduces noise while maintaining airflow (cfm), making it an ideal choice. As seen in the installed photo, this depth is achievable and provides better cooling results. When it comes to blocking backdraft, the fan's air flow is directed into the enclosed box. However, cables and components can reflect this airflow, causing it to exit through the largest "escape hole" at the back of the fan. Closing this opening ensures effective cooling for the board and its components. For assembly, you will need: * A 40x40 fan with a maximum depth of 20 mm * 2-4 M4x25 bolts * 2-4 M4 locking nuts Recommended fans include the Sunon HA40201V4-000U-999 or the Sunon EB40201S2-000U-999, both available on Digikey.
