Contraptor - sliding element
thingiverse
The Contraptor sliding element is an aluminum square tube with UHMWPE pads, used in Cartesian robots. Made from SVG templates, the UHMWPE pads are drilled and fitted inside the channel stock, secured by plastic screws. Thinning of the areas touching the angle rail with a hacksaw or Dremel is necessary for adjusting friction. The friction can be further adjusted with small screws. Get detailed instructions on how to make these elements at http://contraptor.org/make-sliding-elements. These sliding elements are part of Contraptor, an open source construction set for building Cartesian robots available at http://contraptor.org.
