Contraptor - linear rail
thingiverse
The linear rail, part of Contraptor's open source construction set for building Cartesian robots (http://contraptor.org), is available in various lengths like 6", 12", 18" and 24". The DXF file and part list provided are for a 12" rail that can be mounted on perforated angle, channel, or T-slot profile, such as the 80/20 Fractional 10 series. A complete linear stage requires at least two rails and a pair of linear bearings (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1075). The Sketchup source is available at http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?q=contraptor+linear-rail. The rail's assembly includes a perforated aluminum channel and two 1/4" drill rods placed on square nuts and secured with flat head screws, similar to the creation of a perforated angle. A detailed guide is available at http://www.contraptor.org/make-linear-rail.
