Continental RW670 Radial engine
thingiverse
I made this for a friend's film project. It is a Continental RW 670 radial engine usually used on the Boeing PT-17 Stearman bi-plane. I printed it out on a resin printer only so I don't know how well it will print out on a FDM printer. I designed it with alignment pins but wound up having to sand them off. I also included exhaust pipes but you will have to cut and sand them to the proper length. The parts are not in a standard scale size so you will have size according to your use requirements. The engine is not very accurate as the size of the cooling vanes are oft and I had take some liberties with certain portions of the cylinders. Also the right valve lifter rod intersects with the cooling vanes a little bit. And It's also missing all the details behind the crank case, but I might model them in at a later date. I made the engine to be used on some filming miniatures so it was designed with that in mind. I designed the files using a new Parasolid based CAD program that was recently released called Plasticity. It's easy to learn, despite there not being a manual yet, but there a growing number of YouTube videos which demonstrates each tool and features as well as tutorials. It is powerful, affordable and made for hard surface modeling and exports stl files too.
