I was determined to find a non-scratching base for my go-to mug. The design involves inserting a light press fit onto the bottom of the mug after removing the original base. Five millimeter holes are drilled into the cover's bottom, and I threaded in five millimeter O-ring cord before snipping it just above the surface. This allows for three steady points of contact that prevent rocking.
