This is an eye lens dispenser. It allows the lenses to be inserted in groups of 5 as packaged in the box. The vertical opening makes the correction index permanently visible on both sides. 2 cut-outs on the underside allow the distributor to be anchored securely, which is necessary for use (see after). This makes it easier to reload if the space around it is limited. To use it, a short, sharp push towards the bottom breaks the bond between 2 lenses. The cut-out on the back makes it easy for fingers to pass through to retrieve the lens that has just been detached.
