Connectors for 3D printer enclosure based on 500x500x2 mm Polystyrene
thingiverse
I need a straightforward enclosure without movable parts - I manually lift it for access - and with no gaps to retain warmth and noise.\r\n\r\nMy local hardware store offers Polystyrene plates (Hornbach, Hobbyglas, art.no. 1477801) that match my printer's requirements (500x500x2 mm).\r\n\r\nSince I've had trouble drilling and sawing this material in the past, I leave the plates as is. The connectors are simply tightly clamped onto the plates. A small drop of PVC glue on the smaller connectors can be helpful.\r\n \r\nThe package contains:\r\n\r\n3-plane connectors (at the vertices): you'll need 4 top elements and 4 bottom elements.\r\nNote 1: The interior corners are slightly enlarged to accommodate excess material or residue.\r\nNote 2: The top elements feature small holes for easy hanging from the ceiling.\r\n\r\n2-plane connectors: You'll need 24 long elements and 16 short elements.\r\nNote: In an earlier design phase, I created longer elements, but they were difficult to maneuver during assembly.
