Connector for Truncated Octahedron
thingiverse
A Truncated Octahedron Space Filling Structure Made Easy Designing a space filling structure made from one type of connector and rods is simpler than you think! All it takes is 24 connectors and 32 sticks of equal length to create the full octahedron. As you add more structures, the number of connectors and sticks decreases. For example, two pre-made models are available for use as reference: one features holes measuring 2 millimeters in diameter, and the other features diamond-shaped holes measuring just 1 millimeter across. You can easily adjust their scale to suit your needs or edit them further with the help of OpenSCAD's versatile software. A key part of the design process is understanding how to connect all the components correctly. Refer to the "spacefilldemo" model to get a clear view of how one single truncated octahedron is built, and check out the honeycomb model, designated as [thing 214169], for what it looks like on a larger scale.
