A connecting rod, also known as a con-rod, is a component in an engine that transfers linear motion from the piston to the crankshaft, thus converting the up and down movement of the pistons into rotational force. It's made of steel and shaped like a short rod with two ends, one connecting to the piston pin on the moving piston and the other connecting to the crankshaft.
