Connecting Blocks
thingiverse
This small project was commissioned by a teacher new to 3D printing, who asked me if I could print all the geometric sets from TinkerCAD with connectors between the parts. This way, kids could create their own objects without relying on Tinkercad, the internet, or computers. The primary objective is to enable students to explore and manipulate shapes to create smaller components from a single larger piece or gain a deeper understanding of scale and proportions in a 3D environment. For instance, many people are surprised to discover that half of a cube with dimensions 10x10x10mm does not equal a cube measuring 5x5x5mm. In fact, it is only one-eighth the size of the original cube, requiring eight identical halves to reconstruct the entire original cube. I hope this project will benefit other educators by making it available for their use.
