Conical Cup
sketchfab
This is a representation of a conical cup brought to life by experimental archaeologist Dr. Caroline Jeffra. It showcases her expertise in wheel-coiling techniques, where she first built it as a coiled rough-out before finishing it on the wheel. Technical Details Dr. Jeffra's 3D model was created with the David SLS-3 scanner, skillfully operated by Loes Opgenhaffen. Initially, the original file size was an impressive 1.82GB, boasting a resolution of 0.0848mm (vertex spacing) and containing a staggering 8556554 vertices. To make it printable while still highlighting relevant traces, the model was decimated to a more manageable 133698 vertices (43MB). In this instance, Dr. Jeffra deliberately focused on the exterior of the cup, leaving misalignment traces caused during post-processing visible only on the interior.
