I was thoroughly impressed by benjaminbellamy's innovative spool holder, but I sought to create a modified version that catered to my unique needs. In fact, I completely reimagined the scad files to make almost all features customizable (you can easily adjust all dimensions, bearings, number of arms and so on). My enhanced holder is significantly larger, allowing it to accommodate multiple spools, while the interchangeable centering ring enables me to utilize a wide variety of spool types - I simply need to swap out the centering ring to fit different spools. This versatile spool holder can be printed "as is" or tailored to meet your specific requirements by adjusting settings in the configuration file. It's essential to design and print custom centering rings for each spool you use. I printed my upgraded holder using PLA, with a substantial base that boasts an impressive 20cm (approximately 8 inches) diameter. Instructions: You can easily produce the required STL files or make comprehensive modifications to the spool holder by editing the configuration file in spool_holder_config.scad. This flexibility allows you to fine-tune virtually every aspect of the holder, including dimensions, bearing type, shape, and arm count. It's crucial that you generate custom centering rings for each spool you plan to use. The centering ring must snugly fit into the central hole of your spool. For reasons of practicality, it is highly inadvisable to print spool_holder_assembly.scad, as this file serves exclusively as a preview tool.
