This is primarily a reworking of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:14061. I've simplified the SCAD code and included options for every possible orthogonal permutation (up to six tubes per connector). It should be easy to scale up, although I've only tested it with 1" aluminum tubing. This version includes a test finger feature, so you can dial in your preferred fit without wasting too much time and plastic. \nI will post links to things created with this SCAD file soon. \nWARNING: USE FOR LIGHT DUTY ONLY!\nThe most apparent use is for storage racks/shelving, but be sure to exercise common sense with your load and application. The fingers will shear off if you overload them. Don't attempt to build scaffolding or bookshelves with these connectors.\nFor photos of a genuine item made using these connectors, see http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1103635\n\n \n \n Instructions\nSimply comment out or uncomment the finger variables to select the number and orientation of tubing connections you want to render in OpenSCAD, then export your .stl for printing. I recommend printing a short test finger first to make sure dimensions work with your tubing and print setup. Tweak as needed or desired. When testing fit, ensure that tubing is carefully deburred, or it will seem tighter than it really is. \nI'm printing at 0.2mm layer, 50% infill with successful results. Higher infill would naturally be stronger. You will require support for any fingers in the x-y plane of your print bed. Be sure to position support under each vein in the finger surface facing your print bed, or you will end up with twisted veins and possibly a ruined print (S3D gets this wrong without help). I print exclusively in ABS, so I can't comment on other materials. PLA seems like a bad idea for this application.
