Small pieces, weighing less than a gram, are formed by a disk with three, four, five, or six legs that have a flexible zone to adjust angles at each vertex. Files in STL format for the connectors shown are for 5 mm interior diameter straws and for vertices with 3, 4, 5, or 6 legs. If connectors with more legs or legs of other dimensions are needed, parameters in the OpenSCAD file provided can be adjusted. These pieces are very versatile due to their angular flexibility. These pieces produce the best results on polyhedra with triangular faces but fail on polyhedra with non-triangular faces because of their angular flexibility. To increase stability of polyhedra with non-triangular faces, diagonals can be added to increase the number of triangular faces. These vertices are also used to build geodesic domes and create lightweight structures based on triangles. They can be used to build dismountable or permanent structures if connectors and straws are glued together.
