Cone Extrusion Module for OpenSCAD

Cone Extrusion Module for OpenSCAD

thingiverse

The forthcoming OpenSCAD release will likely feature cone extrusion, though its impact may be minimal. A simple and swift cone extrusion module is available, with shell creation also possible. Understanding the functionality should not pose any difficulty. However, for extruding concave shapes, decomposition into convex components is necessary, each being extruded individually. Cone shell extrusions work more efficiently with convex profiles, but may take time in CGAL due to increased facets and vertices at seams. I have recently added support for 3D path shell extrusion. Meanwhile, the WIP feature on Thingiverse tends to switch off frequently, which can be frustrating. Notably, coneextrude2 employs points/triangles, similar to polyhedron's approach.
