Concrete Candle holder mold remix
prusaprinters

This model is a remix of the popular Dual-use candle holder (and mold) from EvanandKatelyn out of Thingiverse.

Link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2944885

The candleholder is dual-use, you can use it with tealights or tapered candles. The design is gorgeous but the original has to be molded out of silicon to get a negative. Therefore I created a negative model which can be directly poured with concrete.

To get great results I recommend printing the mold with PLA because of its thermal properties. 2 perimeters/walls should be perfect. For a clean finish print with 0.1 layer height, use fine concrete or sift with a 3mm mesh or smaller and get all the bubbles out of the mold.

To release the molded candleholder after curing ( i recommend at least 2 days of curing) put it in the oven at 100°C so the plastic gets soft and slowly releases the concrete. To prevent crumbling use some layers of clear coat to protect the concrete.
