Conceptual Mars Base at 1:100 scale designed with printability in mind. Core concept is modularity. Hexagonal modules give good space per wall materials, and interchangeability means that parts can be salvaged from a a less important module to repair a more important one should supplies be scarce. Each module has a dedicated function in the above design, but the arrangement allows for the base to expand very easily. Besides the specialist function of each module, each should have basic life support, environmental protection, and sheath-able solar panels to ensure that crew could survive for at least a short while in the event of an accident. To further ensure safety, each module also connects to an underground structure that can serve as a base for making repairs, storage for additional supplies, and bunker in the event that Martian weather takes a very hostile turn. The landing pad is for supply drops. The access tunnel allows materials to be moved in a non-hostile environment to the main base. Power and life support focuses on energy storage as well non-solar electricity production. Wile every module should have basic life support systems, this module should do the bulk of the work so the others' system only need to be used in emergencies. Manufacturing and Storage are situated adjacent to the power module because these modules are the most critical in an emergency where one would want the tools to repair and the supplies to do so. The science lab here has an observatory for potential astronomical observations and is adjacent to manufacturing so required components can be produced easily for tests. The greenhouse will hopefully add to the food stock and help produce oxygen to alleviate stress on the life support systems. It is also located next to the dedicated living quarters which should have both rooms for the residents as well as cooking facilities. Command and Comms gives both an overview of the base, its status, and needs as well as providing a means to communicate with Earth using the observation and radio tower.
