According to a report obtained in 1994, archaeologists discovered this sculpture in the cemetery area of Finca Concepción, Escuintla, along with monuments 1 and 3, which consisted of a pot-bellied figurine and a stone throne. The sculpture is characteristic of the Cotzumalguapa style and depicts the death god wearing a headdress adorned with tassels. This distinctive headgear is commonly worn by prominent dignitaries in Cotzumalguapa art, possibly even royalty. In Cotzumalguapa culture, the death god frequently dons this regalia, thus asserting his equivalence to kings.
