Light that enters a convex mirror escapes and radiates outward. Consequently, convex mirrors are not used for focusing light because their curves disperse rather than concentrate it. Convex or curved mirrors create a virtual image consistently because both the focal point and centre of curvature are theoretical locations within the glass that cannot be accessed in reality. By contrast, concave mirrors feature inwardly curved reflective surfaces.
