Bell-shrine; bronze and silver parcel-gilt; made specifically for the bell of St Conall Cael, boasts a majestic appearance with intricate decorations of silver plates. At the front, the top plate proudly displays a seated figure of God the Father, flanked by the Virgin and Child, as well as Archangel Michael, showcasing an exquisite blend of artistry and devotion. The main panel is dominated by a crucified Christ in the center, surrounded by four figures against a stunning backdrop of panels filled with intricate scroll ornaments. Originally, this plate was set with three rock crystals, but one has gone missing, leaving only two to sparkle amidst the plain silver border inscribed with worn words. The side panels are adorned with stepped geometric patterns that add a touch of elegance to this masterpiece. Meanwhile, the top panels on both the back and sides feature emblems of the Evangelists skillfully engraved into the metal, while the main panel at the back is embellished with figures of saints. A sturdy chain for suspension completes this magnificent piece, although its top left-hand side bears visible signs of damage. This bell cover has been meticulously documented through a 3D scan conducted by Amelia Knowlson using an Artec Spider as part of her PhD research project, dating back to the 15th century.
