Computer Case Front Panel Standoff

UPDATE*** 6/14/20

I created some custom gap fillers (wip) to go along with these.

I noticed my new computer was running really hot when gaming, and I assumed the lack of air intake on the front panel was the culprit. After I removed the front pane entirely, the temps dropped by ~15 degrees.

However, I didn't want to just leave the front panel off the computer, as it completes the look. And I didn't want to modify the panel by drilling or cutting holes.

I designed these standoffs because it's a reversible modification. They put the panel 30mm off the chassis.

My case is an IBUYPOWER Element MR, though, I'm sure these will work on any other case that has a similar front panel with 10mm holes on the chassis and push pin clips on the front panel. And I believe this case is based on an NZXT case.

I did not necessarily need all 8 to hold the front panel, I just used all 8 so I wouldn't see the other unused pins on the panel showing.

And I may come back in the future and add something a little more stylish to complete the mod. Stay tuned.

I imagine these would look really nice, almost stock, with an SLA printer.

Here are the Cura print settings I used, but you can modify however you like:

-Super Quality (Low quality for me would not print the pin parts correctly on my Ender 3 Pro)

-100% infill

-Tree supports enabled

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Creality

Printer:

Ender 3 Pro

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Infill:

100

Filament:
Matterhacker pla
Black

Category: Computer
