Compression Spring Forming Tool
thingiverse
This is a spring forming tool which then can be used to make square ended compression springs made from 1.75 mm PLA filament. This means you don't print the spring. You really don't want to print helical springs due to the weakness between layers. Instead, you print the forming tool just once, then make as many springs as you want by wrapping filament around around the tool and then following the heating instructions to "set" the spring to the final shape. Youtube video https://youtu.be/tFDoHumPyy8 shows how to make the compression spring once you print this thing. There are 3D printed tapped holes in the so don't go too tight on the screws. Speaking of screws, you need to either print two of the PLA knurled screws or use two metal M5 X 0.8 by 8 mm long button head cap screws to clamp the filament because it'll be too hot to hold with your fingers when you dunk everything in the hot water. Thanks to Jonny S. for your good ideas and help with the video.
