Compressible Origami Cylinder
thingiverse
This is an experiment with compressible origami cylinders, designed to be printed with flexible filament. The creation process involved several steps: * First, a JavaScript script was used to generate the crease pattern in fold format, allowing for cyclic patterns. * Next, the design was folded at 50% using the online JavaScript simulator created by Amanda Ghassaei, which can be accessed here: http://apps.amandaghassaei.com/OrigamiSimulator/ * The result was then exported in 3D format. * Finally, some post-processing was applied to achieve the correct thickness. Additional notes include: * Several designs are available in .fold format and can be found here: https://github.com/edemaine/fold * It's essential to use flexible filament to experiment with folding compressible origami cylinders. * Code to generate the fold format will be made available in a future update.
