Compressed Air Turbine Remix

Compressed Air Turbine Remix

thingiverse

This is a Remix of JobSmolders Compressed Air Turbine that addresses several key issues: 1) It minimizes filament usage by eliminating unnecessary material while maintaining structural integrity, albeit at the cost of some internal supports. 2) The design incorporates standard bolts (M3 x 20mm), simplifying component sourcing and manufacturing. 3) A 3D printed shaft and bearing standoffs are integrated to ensure precise rotor alignment. A key modification I made was incorporating a cut section from a bike inner tube as a liner, which helps seal the seam and prevent air leaks. Additionally, some careful sanding was required to eliminate rubbing between the rotor and housing, ultimately resulting in faster spinning performance. Based on my experience, printing with 50-60% gyroid infill and three walls using Inland PLA+ yields optimal results. To achieve the best print quality, I recommend orienting the model face-down on the bed and strategically placing supports to reinforce the corners.
