Compressed Air Rockets
thingiverse
Two rockets for launching off 15mm Copper pipe. Printed these in PET and PLA, both worked well with minimal tweaking required. Use some fine sandpaper to clean the inside of the rocket, ensuring a smooth sliding fit on the pipe is achieved. Flew about 10m high using 1.0 bar of pressure, reaching impressive altitudes without any issues. Printed these rockets with a precise step height of 0.1mm, as testing at 0.2mm revealed weak layer bonding that compromised structural integrity. By increasing the resolution to 0.1mm, we obtained robust and reliable results. The spiral finned rocket spins quickly and exhibits remarkable stability during flight. Spiral fins also contribute significantly to strengthening the rocket against splitting between layers, resulting in a more durable overall design.
