I needed a way for my slider to move in steps. Here is the version I used for my project.I also included a detailed drawing of how to make one on your own with your own measurements.You can choose the force needed to move the slider by varying L and E in the drawing. The example values are the lowest combination before my part was breaking under repeated stress.
