COMPLETE/REFINED CAD FOR UPDATED QUADRUPEDAL ROBOT LEG (DESIGN 583173)
thingiverse
Students requested simpler CAD files for design 583173, so here is it in .3dm (Rhino) and AutoCAD. It is still an experimental version!!! The spine has been added along with a hip to suit, as well as some carriers for Arduino boards if you decide to go that route. You can obtain a carrier for a Galileo 2 board that clips onto this spine too, but I have not included it here; however, you can get it elsewhere on thingiverse using design 487236. I haven't uploaded the parts as .stl files, as they previously caused confusion and now the CAD file is very clean. You will be better off working through the CAD first and then figuring out your printing strategy. Many of the parts are used in multiple locations; though this assembly may seem complicated, few parts are required. If you look at the CAD file in 3d format first, you'll come up with a printing strategy. There are also photos of the parts available (see instructions). Instructions: You will need to have the following items: - #4 x 12mm self-tapping screws - #4 x ~6mm self-tapping screws - 1 x 100mm shock absorber assembly for an RC model car (easily found at hobbyking or a similar store) - some longer 3-5mm diameter screws for the ankle/shock absorber pivots The photos should be helpful. Note: These parts are a bit flexible, and you will need to clean up some of the holes using a drill; specifically, if you don't clean out the holes first with a 2 or 2.5mm drill bit, the self-tapping screws may be too large. If all you have available is larger diameter screws, it's reasonable to enlarge the holes to match.
