Competition Electronics ProChrono Bluetooth Adaptor
Had a Competition Electronics ProChrono sitting around and have always wanted to build a the digital bluetooth adapter so i can store the strings in an app. Decided after trying to split the case on the chrono that it was a better option to just make an external box vs trying to put the parts inside the original unit (would have made such a nice clean install). Power is supplied using a usb power brick, this powers both the chrono and the bluetooth module. Even one that can only supply 5v worked for me but your mileage may vary.
Programming
The HC-06 must be programmed before you start hooking everything else up. Connect some kind of USB FTDI Serial to the HC-06. Default baud rate is most likely 9600k. Commands are in single quotes (don't include the quotes when copying) The name has to be digital link to be able to work with the digital link ios / android app. Set the Name 'AT+NAMEDigital Link' The pin is optionally set to four zeros. Set Pin (optional) 'AT+PIN0000' Last command sets the baud rate to 1200 to match the chrono, Set Baud 'AT+BAUD1' The HC-06 should now be ready for use in the project now.
Wiring
The TIP or pin 3 (left channel) on the stereo jack gets connected to the RXD pin of HC-06 The RING or pin 2 (right channel) on the stereo jack gets connected to the TXD pin of the HC-06 The SLEEVE or pin 1 (ground) on the stereo jack gets connected to the Ground pin of the HC-06 The 10k Ohm 1/4w resistor gets connected between RXD (pin 3) and Ground (pin 1)
Parts List
Can be sourced from other places much cheaper also cannot guarantee the links still work as sellers take items down. - HC-06 Bluetooth Amazon - USB-C PD 9v Power Module Amazon - Pololu 5V, 1A Step-Down D24V10F5 Amazon - 9v Battery Clip Amazon - 10k ohm 1/4w Resistor Amazon - 3.5mm Stereo Jack Panel Mount Amazon - 3.5mm Stereo Cable Amazon Possible Alternate Cable Amazon - 3.5mm Pigtail (Alternate to using a jack panel and cable) Amazon - 2x M2x8mm screws Amazon
Bonus
Included is a file for a plain door in case someone lost theirs or wants to create their own setup.
