Companion Cube - modular, snap-together, colorized
thingiverse
The Companion Cube is a complex print, consisting of 40 individual parts that need to be assembled without glue for an accurate color scheme and seamless appearance. Each part is printed separately to avoid directional bias and unavoidable seams. The cube includes white, grey, and pink pieces in different shapes and sizes, requiring specific order assembly. To assemble the Companion Cube, print six of each white and pink face pieces, eight of each grey and white corner pieces, and twelve of the white edge pieces. Clean up any stray strings or drooping bits before starting the assembly process. Press a white face piece onto each pink face piece, then join one white corner piece through each grey corner piece. Assemble four corner pairs with edge pieces, followed by joining two corner assemblies, a face assembly, and two more edge pieces to form a cube half. Repeat this step for the other half of the cube. Finally, join both halves together using four remaining face assemblies and edge pieces, ensuring the pink tabs on the face pieces fit into the small slot in each edge piece.
