Compact Wind Power
myminifactory
I've always been fascinated by wind power's potential, but its lack of compactness has driven me to create a more adaptable platform that combines wind and water energy harvesting capabilities. My goal is to make this system work in conjunction with fast-moving streams or rivers if they're nearby. To achieve this, I designed a magnetic base featuring velcro straps that can be wrapped around objects with diameters under 2 inches. Although my printed prototype had some minor tolerance issues, these have been resolved in the updated STL files. To protect the internal electronics from harsh weather conditions, I used a 250ml Red Bull can as a makeshift enclosure. During testing, I found that the helical blade spins rapidly and generates approximately 2-3 volts when attached to an air compressor nozzle. Unfortunately, the propeller version doesn't spin as quickly, requiring a gear setup to boost its RPMs. The USB board I had on hand functions adequately, but I'm currently searching for one that can also charge batteries, allowing users to set it up and forget about it until needed.
