Compact version of USSR (Ultimate Simple Spool Roller), for standard and sample spools
prusaprinters

I like Martin_au's “USSR spool holders" but I found it was too large for the sample spools I'm using (kszlachcikowski's excellent honeycomb sample spools).

So I remixed it, to make it shorter and more narrow. It now works great with the 30mm version of the sample spools. The 15mm version of the sample spools is too wobbly.

At the same time, it still works great with all standard 1 kg spools I've tried.

I also include a version (small-base-wide) with the same width as the original, for use with the original rollers.

UPDATE 09-11-22: Fixed an imperfection in the base of the narrow version. (Had accidentally uploaded the wrong version). Also added 3mf files, for 0.6mm nozzle.

Print instructions

To quote Martin_au:

This needs 4 x 608 bearings and..........that's it.
Print a base and two rollers. Slide the bearings into the rollers and place the rollers into the base. Don't print the base out of a brittle plastic. It needs to flex a little bit to get the rollers in. Most plastics should be fine.

Use supports on the base. There will be just 4 tiny support posts to support the bearing holders.
