Compact/slim variant of LucidVR Gloves
thingiverse
My son watched the brilliant LucidGloves project by Lucas VRTech on Youtube and wanted a pair of his own. All credit and rights are rightfully theirs. After downloading the files, it was evident that the parts would not fit his small hands. So I have downsized the parts so it will fit a size 6 hand. Thanks a lot to Lucas for his idea and for sharing it with us all! I will continue work on improving what I started and hope my contribution will help his project and people that struggle to make the design fit on their hands. I am also looking into a fix for the SW, since the AD-conversion of the ESP32 is not stable and sometimes results in readings that are out of range. I expect that the project will address these themselves soon so I don't plan to share this (just a one-liner ignoring values outside the range). Modifications were done using Sketchup 2016. File attached. Printed using Cura - project file attached. All files can be printed with same settings as specified in the original project, except the haptic spool that requires support due including the servo arm stopper in the print instead of using a screw. The area with support probably needs sanding after removing the support to reduce the friction against the servo arm. Sorry for &%¤ up this a little, ideas on how to improve is welcome. The hole for the string on the haptic spool may need to be drilled after printing before threading the string. Hope someone find it useful. See pictures for information about main differences compared to the original and how to mount. Note that you cannot use the full steel spring length, but should cut it down to about 15-20cm to make it fit in the tensioner. Also, the servo arm must be cut so that it matches the radius of the spool. I have marked the project as work-in-progress, but have successfully printed and tested that it works. Currently working on making the wire harness a bit more rugged to stabilize the system. Good luck to everyone working on one of these projects!
