Compact Sampling Scraper
grabcad
The system operates via its retractable arms, Scraper 1 and 2, deployed by linear actuators. Initially, Scraper 1 collects larger regolith (1-2cm), followed by rotation with a stepper motor at ~5rpm. Acquired samples are diverted to a container equipped with a digital otoscope-like camera for visual confirmation. Then, Scraper 1 retracts and Scraper 2 collects finer regolith (<1cm). This process continues until sufficient amounts are collected and confirmed. Key features include compactness, selective sampling accuracy, mounting flexibility, digital image processing capabilities, specific scraper design for efficient collection, lightweight aluminum alloy construction (Al-6065), weighing ~286g without electronics, and secured wiring within the hollow mount. The design meets all necessary requirements and conditions. This challenge was an innovative learning experience; congratulations to remaining contestants!
