Compact Lightweight Bracket
grabcad
Introducing a lightweight, compact bracket designed for injection molding with three sliders for material reduction. The primary focus was on achieving an equal wall thickness and minimizing mass without exceeding the maximum permitted weight. This part can also be manufactured using a 3D printer. It was modeled using PTC Creo Parametric 2.0, and FEA analysis was conducted with PTC Creo Simulate 2.0. The material used is Ultem 9085, with specific gravity of 1.34 g/cm^3, and the maximum permissible mass is 45.36g. Mechanical values for FEM simulation include a force in the negative Z direction of 600 lbf, material strength allowable of 4500 psi, Young's modulus of 325 kSI, and Poisson's ratio of 0.41. The 3D model properties include a mass of 45.31g and volume of 33.81 cm^3. FEM simulation results show max displacement of 0.21mm and max stress von Mises (permissible values exceeded in very small, uncritical areas). Two alternative fastening methods are also presented with renderings. The model is available in .stp, .stl, and .prt formats.
