Compact extruder / feeder with alternative runout
thingiverse
This piece is a remix of my two previous extruders/feeders: 1. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3725830 2. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3741451 I really liked the design of the first one, except for the cover fixation, but it required reversing stepper motor wires, which not everyone is willing to do, and it may not push filament hard enough onto the cog wheel. I never liked the second design, but it was fully functional, maybe too much so, as the spring was very compressed, causing me to break one; the mobile part was too thin. It was also a bit difficult to mount, but no need to change stepper motor wires. --- This version combines the best of those extruders/feeders: * compact * resistant * nice and clean (in my opinion) * supports flexible filaments * supports a decent runout switch * easy to print * easy to mount * Its cover stays in place, even when opened --- An alternative base/support is included in the STL files: it allows you to mount the extruder on your aluminum profile. I'm planning to mount mine on top of my printer. For now, I've only tested the classic one with success. --- FYI, I'm using this type of microswitch: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71hJwrQbcuL._SL1200_.jpg (you can find all dimensions in the FreeCAD file if you want to check)
