Compact Chisel Sharpening Jig
prusaprinters

My chisel set was pretty dull when I bought them, and they needed sharpening after a couple of projects. I designed this compact chisel sharpening jig to get a consistent angle when I sharpen them.

To find the right angle, push the chisel into the clamp until its face is resting flat on your whetstone. I used the sharpie trick to find the perfect distance (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kzGvtX-h8g).

This design will accommodate chisels or hand plane blades up to 2in wide.

I included clamps for 1in, 0.75in, and 0.5in chisels. If you need other profiles, make your own using the Blank Clamp .step file.

The M4 x 25mm bolts can hold up to 3 clamps for storage as shown in the picture.

Components:
1x - Body
1x - Right Roller
1x - Left Roller
Print as many clamps as you need.

1x - Hex Head M6 x 65mm bolt
1x - M6 nut
2x - Hex Head M4 x 25mm bolt
2x - M4 wing nut
2x - 606ZZ bearing (https://amzn.to/31kttc8)

Print instructions

Category: 3D Printing Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: I3 MK3S

Rafts: Doesn't Matter

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2

Infill: 20

Filament: AmazonBasics PETG orange
Notes:

I printed the clamps with 40% infill, plus 100% infill around the wing nut areas for additional strength. You shouldn't need to tighten the wingnuts too far, just enough to hold the chisel in place.
