Compact Bit Box

Compact Bit Box

I made this compact bit-box (93mm x 72mm x 32mm) so I could always have at hand the tools for fixing my airsoft replica. It fits into a helmet counter-weight pouch and some regular MOLLE pouches. It holds a hex-bit extension, 18 hex-bits, 7 hex-keys and an auxiliary magnet for small metal parts (screws, nuts, washers etc.). The box itself acts as a hex-bit handle.Printed in PLA and FLEX/TPU (98A or 82A)Required material4 neodymium magnets (5mm diameter x 1.8-2.0mm thick)1 neodymium magnet (15mm diameter x 2.8-3.0mm thick)82A or softer TPUtransparent shoe glueRequired bitsYou can choose whatever 18 bits you think you'll need, but these are my choice:9 torx bits (they also replace regular hex bits): T8, T10, T15, T20, T25, T27, T30, T403 flat bits: 1.2 x 7.0mm, 0.8 x 5.0mm, 0.5 x 3.03 Phillips bits: PH1, PH2, PH33 Pozidriv bits: PZ1, PZ2, PZ3A single 60mm hex extensionHex keys (bought here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32959987540.html)0.7mm, 0.9mm, 1.3mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mmPrinting the caseThe case consists of the PLA body with TPU details, but it can also be printed on a regular Prusa MK3S using just 2 manual filament changes. The pre-sliced GCODE starts with PLA, then prompts for a FLEX filament and then back to the PLA.After the case is printed, glue and firmly push in the 4 neo magnets and first be sure to get the right polarity. The magnets on the lid and the base should attract.Cut a piece of soft TPU filament (82A or softer) and glue it into the groove in the base using the shoe glue. Apply the glue to one side only.Printing the FLEX inserts for hex keysPrint the hex keys inserts and glue them to the corresponding bases in the lid of the case.Printing the FLEX insert for the bitsPrint the insert for the hex-bits in FLEX using the pre-sliced GCODE. When the printer pulls the head to the side and prompts you, insert the 15mm magnet into the place and resume printing. This magnet can later be used as a temporary holder for smaller metal parts, such as screws and washers that you take out.
