Compact 2/3 Axis GoPro / SJCAM Gimbal
thingiverse
This is an effort to design as compact as possible a 3-axis brushless gimbal specifically for SJCAM and GoPro cameras. The gimbal is designed with RCTimer GBM2804 motors in mind, targeting a frame with 37mm spacing between the top and bottom plates, reminiscent of a flamewheel setup. To maintain the gimbal's compactness, its rotation around the Z-axis is limited but should still be sufficient to smooth out yaw movements. A test print has been completed and set up - with SJ4000 there was an issue with balance on the roll axis in the current version, which should now be resolved after reprinting. Until the pitch arm is updated, you will need to apply a small counterweight to the camera side. Otherwise, it functions perfectly, as seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHf7ikSdP_4, and also in this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tePknWLL-Ks. The yaw range is approximately ±20 degrees. If a 2-axis gimbal with skipping yaw/roll arm is desired, that should be sufficient. Future tasks include: - Improving balance - Working on frame mounting options - Thinking more about cable management - Designing a new version for GoPro Session or SJ M10 cameras, potentially even more compact
