Communion Cup
thingiverse
I adore living in a community that shares my passion for all things nerdy and attending a quaint church! My pastor was thrilled when he discovered I acquired a 3D printer, and he commissioned a unique communion cup. This design is the result of my first ever self-created 3D print. Initially, I aimed to push my printer's build volume to its limits, so the model turned out quite massive. To make it more manageable, I scaled it down to 75% of its original size. I chose wood filament to give it an authentic look and feel, although any material would work well. The model's fine details are a result of the shallow angles and vertical curved surfaces. Printing anything larger would have resulted in noticeable stepping on the surface at those angles. To ensure the scripture text printed perfectly, I had to adjust my Cura settings with 0.2mm horizontal expansion. My CAD file wouldn't allow me to thicken the text, so I made this adjustment to get the desired outcome. I've also included a small section of the scripture reference for testing print settings and verifying that the text prints correctly.
