Commodore SX-64 - frame for 5" LCD display (replacing the CRT)
thingiverse
This frame allows to install a 5", 16:9 LCD display (the cheap one for rear camera on car or truck you can find for 20 US$, free shipping from China, on eBay) in place of the original CRT display into the Commodore SX-64 portable computer. Note: this kind of monitor is usually based on the AMT630A chipset that comes with a firmware that isn't compatible with the Commodore 64 composite signal. I've uploaded a video on youtube (the worst video on YouTube, actually, LOL) showing the issue and a workaround you can easily make at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Zzk851vAZs In the video description you will also find the links you need for the workaround. NOTE 1: the pictures and the video show a wrong bevel in the external frame (I did a mistake and I put the bevel inside instead of outside); the STL files were fixed before to be uploaded. NOTE 2: there is at least a ready to mount, 4:3 replacement display that fit on your SX-64 for sale on the web, but it's quite expensive (about 100 € + shipping) and at this moment is unavailable. NOTE 3: to build the whole project you will need some soldering skills and you need to understand at least a bit of electronic circuits. This isn't just a matter of slapping parts together and you've done.
