Commodore 1541 Fan Bracket
thingiverse
This simple bracket attaches to the chassis of a Commodore 1541 disk drive, allowing you to mount a 55mm x 55mm x 10mm 12v fan that's run at 5v to keep noise levels minimal while keeping the drive cool. PetterHans @bwack came up with the idea and asked me to design and print it for him. You can find more information on this project in a YouTube video. The design of this bracket might need some modification to fit your specific Commodore 1541 disk drive, as different versions exist. I've used rubber fan mounts in my Alps/toaster variant, which still had 2mm clearance between the fan top and the inside of the case. However, due to the semi-closed grille design of the case, air noise is increased slightly. The power for the fan comes from any +5v and GND source. I've recently added a 60mm fan version (untested) to this project. Just make sure it's a 60x60x10mm fan or it won't fit inside the case.
